777 - The connection attempt failed because the modem (or other connecting device) on the remote computer is out of order

The dialer should dial the next number stored it in the user's dial location. If only one number is stored for that location, you should see the following message: The number dialed is not answering.

Try the following:

The port may be in use by another device or another application, such as fax software or an Internet Service Provider. Please exit that program or restart Windows to free the port.

If that doesn't work, reboot your system and try again -- turn off your computer, wait a minute, then turn it back on.

If that doesn't work, and you feel confident in locating and modifying init strings in your computer, add the init string atz to your modem and reboot your computer.

If that doesn't work, remove the atz init string and refer to a qualified technician.

If the problem persists, contact a qualified technician.
